Toolkit at opening of international Conflictology Congress

The 5th international Congress of Conflictology and Peace, Barcelona 26-28 September 2012 featured the Dialogue Toolkit as part of its opening Plenary. Christoph Spreng, INGO Dialogue Hub Coordinator was the presenter. The Congress was hosted by the Open University of Catalonia’s Campus for Peace.
The content of the Congress revolved quite a bit around Mediation, highlighting several areas of Catalonian and Spanish life. The second focus was peacebuilding through sports. The intense two-day event was interspersed with a wide spectrum of other contributions, such as the INGO Dialogue Toolkit under the title: “From Polarization to Participation – a civil society initiative at the Council of Europe”.
A number of participants expressed particular interest in the Toolkit approach. Among them were representatives of SIPRI, the reputed Think Tank in Stockholm, of Bradford University, UK, of Georgetown University, USA, and the UNESCO Chair for Peace Research at Innsbruck University, Austria.
Finally, the upcoming on the Toolkit agenda this month will be:
- Participation on the Panel “Civil society: a key player for living together” organised as part of the World Forum for Democracy 5 – 11 October;
- The Introduction Workshop for selected Facilitators to obtain the capacity to conduct INGO Dialogues.
